SUP Storage

With a fleet a boards this year. I had to think about how I was going to store all 8 boards. I really liked keeping them inflated at 10psi, which I did over the winter in a uninstalled garage (-50 temps outside) and they only lost a single psi. Boards seem to be in way better shape stored like that and up off the ground to dry out faster. I have tried multiple ways of storing over the years with Nala, partially inflated was always the best. I also wanted wet boards on the bottom and dry ones up top, since I will be paddling 3+ days a week when the season fully kicks off. Just helps again keeping thing clean. I reached out to my buddy Jay about hooking me up with some pallets, he totally did! On the base, I removed all but the outer slats, mimicking how I was hanging and storing them before. Top deck, I kept whole for more support on the boards and keep it strong. Both top and bottom, I put a thin pad, we had left over. Worked great to have the boards making contact with that over wood, even though I filed all the edges round. The pad does help with sliding the boards in and out. Edge of the top pallet overhung allowing my paddles to rest standing up, which I love! Added two catch arms, my old easy storage self, in case the top boards try to take out my motorcycle. Oh! Bonus, bring a pallet made sweet side shelf for all the fins! Digging this layout and in the future will improve and slim down for the next stage of Rozyboom Adventrues!

  • So since I now have a fleet of boards I needed to figure out a way to store and dry them.

  • Got 4 pallets from a buddy, some other scrap wood, and a few screws.

  • In time I will have two more boards on here, which I built it to handle 8.

  • Totally awesome this one pallet had overhand on both sides. Made a perfect paddle organizer.

  • Bonus! The in between part I used as fin storage! Grab a board, grab your fins, and hit the water!

  • Bottom will be a tight but we will see. Need the other two to show up still.

  • As you can see I removed all the bottom boards off the top pallet. Then staggered it to have it but against inner wall of other pallet to screw them together. Also, allowed for the overhang of the paddles. Plenty of height for the wide boards.

  • Bottom pallet I removed the center boards to mimic how I had my boards hanging before. Plus, more airflow since bottom is drying, top is for boards already dry, unless I take them all out.

  • Better look at the foam I was talking about. Just some stuff we had laying around. Single staple to hold it in place. Great for sliding the boards out.

  • Top I kept all the planks. Make it more like a table but added the foam on both ends. Again, just a little height difference for sliding.
