St. Croix Islands
Only way I knew how to explore this area is by water. Duh! It's a recreational area that consist of islands. So I dropped my car off at Boom Site Landing and caught a ride from my mom in her Corvette to my launch point. I launch at William O'Brien State Park mid morning after the frost had time to melt. About half way, I was trying to get a sweet reflection picture when BAM! Center fin (8 inches long) smashes into a rock, tree, or who knows what. My weight was already leaning forward so I totally fell into the water, which didn't seem cold to me at all might be due to my Wim Ho Training. While in the water I checked out my Nala to make sure she was ok. Hopped backup on her and started to paddle. Thankfully, the sun was out and I ate something right away and went right into Wim Hof breathing to nuke my soaking wet lays. Total success I was dry in no time! Overall, had a blast paddling 12-13 miles down the river and have some ideas/plans for other adventures to come :)
