Arrived mid morning for my underground tour. I was crazy excited to see what this was all about because I have heard great things from others. I highly recommend checking this mine out! Amazing how it was Minnesota's first Iron Ore mine, opened in 1882. Contributed to the world's iron production and heavy demand during the World Wars. The tour guides and helpers were all outstanding and knew their stuff about the mine. Yes, you really do get to ride the same elevator miners rode deep down into the mine to see what it was roughly like back in the day. After my underground mine tour, I made sure to explore everything above ground to see the complete process.
