Lake Vermilion
Grabbed a snack after the mine tour. At the same time, I explored the backside of the Soudan Underground Mine (winter entrance) and found this awesome rock formation. I then went a little further down the road to Stuntz Bay to see the Smoke Stack. Continued onward to Armstrong Bay Day-Use Area to launch Nala onto Lake Vermilion. My plan was to paddle west along the coast line, island hop, and circle around Long Island. I did just that with the first push going right into some crazy weather. With some 3-4 footer whitecap waves with solid winds made the first few miles quite interesting. I was able to take a few pictures when I got to calmer spots. Weather then passed and I contented on island hopping, making lupper (lunch/dinner) on Nala, and caught the sunset before heading back. Made for a really good time on the water. It would be awesome to get back with a boat to checkout more of the lake and amazing houses/boats.
