Started the day off with Amanda waking up still feeling good from the bar last night. As she looked at the clock she noticed we slept right through both are alarms....! We only had 30 minutes to get up, get ready, pack, and hustle to our 06:30 ferry.. So back to running our ass off to make the ferry. Mid run we both remembered we didn't have tickets to get on the ferry.. Quickly pulled out some cash and made a deal with the crew member to let us on the ferry. Ok we made it on the ferry whew.. Then we get to the train station to find out they cancelled the train we wanted to take.. Like how the heck can you just decide to not have a train come. So we ended up having to take the bus instead, which went all over the place. Finally, it dropped us off in Karlovac, Croatia, which is a run down sort of sketchy city. Still with a few hours to burn before we could catch a new train, we walked around trying to find a restaurant. Then we asked a place to eat and went to Palma, which ended up being fantastic! Pizza and beer what just what we needed after the day we have been having thus far. After having the best meal in some time, we walked back to the sketchy train station that looks abandoned (see pictures below). We hopped on the POS train that had what we thought the correct location we needed. We even asked a old man on the train if this was right, he confirmed it was.. Yeah it was not the right train at all... We were going further out of our way... Faaaack. Ended up in Zagreb, Croatia instead of Rijeka (our desired destination). The next train was not leaving till 00:15 with a 4 hour layover mid way... Again, F that noise. I mentioned let's see if there is a bus. So we hopped on the metro (without tickets since would didn't see a place to buy them, hoping to not repeat Prague). Got to the bus station and what do you know they have a bus that leaves in an hour to Rijeka!! It was our lucky part of the day. Side note: the busses are the way to go in Croatia for sure! Finally we are in Rijeka in the hostel we pre-booked two beds. Come to find out since we didn't show up at the time we said we would they gave the beds to someone else... We never had that issue before and we have been plenty late. Explained what all happened and she was a total bitch and didn't care. Now it is 22:15, we don't have a room, and Amanda needs to get some sleep for her race tomorrow. We walked down the street and found another hostel that is way nicer and the receptionist was super nice to us. In a nut shell after a 17+ hour travel day, a number of hiccups, heat with little water to drink due to the lack of bathrooms, we are finally in some beds ready to sleep and start the day off early again.. All I can say is what a cluster F of a day...
