Island Life in Puerto Rico
My good buddy Jake and I, headed down to the island of Puerto Rico. Yes, you can still see some damage from the 2017 hurricane and every local you talk to will bring it up. We were going down for a quick fun trip to see what the country is like. I say country because it honestly still feels like its own country. Yeah you use USD currency, but outside of that it really feels like another underdeveloped country to me. Our first day, was spent in the rainforest hiking, jumping off cliffs, and riding natural waterslides. Our tour guide Jake, was extremely knowledgeable about the whole island, all the wildlife, plants, really anything you can think of he had the answer, which made it super fun and a real learning experience. Next day, we did another tour to the south west side of the island to La Parguera to checkout a Bioluminescent bay. This was one of the 3 location around the island, but only this location you can swim in the water. Hands down on the the coolest things I have witnessed in nature, outside of the Aurora in Norway. Didn’t take any photos because one it is really hard to capture it when on a boat rocking in the waves, people splashing around, and a bright moon out. So I said screw it and just enjoy the moment, I honestly will never forget it. Imagine swimming in the stars that are glowing blue. So flippin sweet! Our last day, we spend exploring Old San Juan. Pretty sweet old town, tasty food, plenty of beer, and met a ton of awesome people traveling as well. I loved my time there, our Airbnb, how inexpensive it can be, and the people/food. Everyone was so nice and pretty much everything I ate was awesome! I will be back, heck screw beaches in the lower 48, just go to Puerto Rico for a unique experience at probably the same cost of lower.
