Time Lapse Tuesday - ROZYBOOM

Time Lapse Tuesday - 2017 Project - Completed

Wanted to a fun project in 2017. I knew nothing about making a time lapses, but I love the looks of them. So during my adventures, enjoying the little things in life, or just because I filmed a sorts of time lapses. My GoPro Hero 5 Black is super slick and easy to make a time lapse. Toss it in a spot I like, hit record, and edit it later in Final Cut Pro X. All of this was to help me learn how to take and make a time lapse, which is going to be very useful for other projects to come. With 2017 passing, I am very excited to take what I learned, improve, and see what 2018 will bring! Hope you enjoyed this project, as much as I did making them.

Location and Date: My Backyard, Minnesota on December 24, 2017

About: Been super busy towards the end of 2017. I wanted to capture one last time lapse to finish out my project. Throughout 2017, I was teaching myself how to film and edit a time lapse. I didn't have a clue what I was doing but I did learn a ton. It was a great project but now with 2018 here, it is time to incorporate time lapses into other edits. I want to focus on shorts and building up my video editing portfolio.

Location and Date: REI Bloomington Location, Middle of the Spring 2017

About: I was about to head into grab some last minutes supplies for a trip. I noticed the clouds were looking pretty sweet and setup my GoPro to see what I would captured. I want to say this was my 3rd one ever filming, but saved it since I had others. Just seemed fitting now with being sick for a week straight.

About: On my way back form Kentucky, I wanted to make one last stop. This was at John A. Latsch State Park in Minnesota. I knew the leaves were turning and the clouds had the potential to break up. I was driving in complete overcast through Wisconsin. It did just that! Turned out to be an awesome hike up the bluff for a fantastic view.

Location and Date: Rum River, Minnesota on October 13, 2017

About: Needed to check the landing for a potential takeout spot for Sundays paddle. To my surprise the water was a few feet higher then normal. I was really digging the reflection and figure it could make a fun/different time lapse to go slow instead of just always speeding up. Take some time to pump the brakes, slow down, and enjoy the little things in life.

Location and Date: Hastings, Minnesota - September 23 , 2017

About: Came across a photo of a sweet looking waterfall. They didn't tag the location, so I had to figure out where it is at. Thankfully, that is something I love to do! Don't always need to be told everything. Put in some work. Find new places. Maybe then you will find something you were never looking for. Either way, I found the waterfall and had some fun climbing around, crossing the river, and taking a time lapse

Camera/Settings: GoPro Hero 5 Black. 2K Video Mode shot for about 25 minutes in each location. Edited in Final Cut Pro X

Location and Date: Afton State Park, Minnesota - September 17 , 2017

About: Week ago I was hanging by my ankle caught in a rope swing. Yesterday, I was violently puking most of the day from food poisoning. Today, I decided to go for a hike to see how I was holding up. Around 6.5-7 miles I stopped at the river to see what sort of time lapse I could get. As the massive yachts pass by I figured I would at least get them captured. Given they look like tiny little micro yachts hauling ants instead of the 2+ story yachts hauling people.

About: On my way back from Duluth I wanted to make a stop at Jay Cooke. Just love being by all the waterfalls. Got a time lapse setup while I hike around more and getting up close and personal with some rapids and waterfalls. I then was setting up a hammock when a ground bee stung me. Swatted/killed the bugger, which was a mistake. Next thing I saw was one bee after another popping out of this hole in the ground. They were not happy. Grabbed all my gear and jump across the river and headed back.

Location and Date: Coon Lake boat launch, Minnesota -  March 7, 2017

About: First attempt at a time lapse! The clouds were flying all over the place from the crazy wind (50-60mph gusts), which made this a choppy one... Due to being shaky, I thought it was best to pair it up with some Metal from Of Mice & Men hahah. Overall, it was a great learning experience and I wanted to share my first attempt.

Camera/Settings: GoPro Hero 5 Black. Setup on daytime 3 second time lapse intervals. 2200 photos in total! Might have been overkill but again it was my first go at this! With how choppy it actually was I was happy with the 2200 photos. Allowed me to really speed it up to smooth it out as much as I possibly could.
